You asked, and we listened! We’re excited to announce the start of many positive changes here at Thimble, all based on what matters most to you, our awesome community.
New modular approach — Mechanical assembly, soldering, and programming can be a lot to handle in one sitting. With future Thimble kits, we’re going to take a more modular approach by including parts that build on each other to avoid bombarding you with too much at once. This will also help ensure that you’re both learning something new AND having fun each month!
More explanations — Tutorials from Thimble will start to take things a step further, giving you a greater understanding of WHAT this part is, and WHY we’re putting it here or there. Our goal is for you to walk away from each Thimble project feeling even more confident in your engineering and programming skills!
Guided path to learning — Each project will continue to have new objectives and learning outcomes, but we’re going to take it a step even further with future Thimble kits. We will create more milestones you can work towards so you feel both rewarded and more in-the-know as you continue your journey to mastering your engineering and programming skills with us!
Better experience — We’re working on making all Thimble properties, including our main website, Thimble.io, our learning platform, and our parts hub store, cohesive and easier to navigate on all types of devices to ensure you have the best possible experience when using our products!
Kits that build on each other — One piece of feedback we’ve consistently received is the idea of kits that build on each other to create one big, final project at the end. We’re taking this into account and are excited to announce that all Thimble projects will begin to build on each other starting in March 2018! Future kits will also have more opportunities for add-ons, so you can easily hack your projects to make them unique to you and your preferences.
Consistent delivery — Our promise to you is one kit per month, and we are putting steps in place to ensure that we deliver on our promise. In 2018, we will no longer have to wait on outside vendors, enabling us to produce future kits faster without compromising the quality you’ve come to expect from us! We also recently acquired our own warehouse space, which will make it easier for us to stick to a consistent shipping schedule.
